After finally becoming the top trainer in the world, Ash Ketchum, the protagonist of the anime series “Pokémon”, and his Pokémon partner, Pikachu, are leaving the series after 25 years.

Their farewell will be marked with 11 special episodes starting Jan. 13, 2023, featuring the return of fan favorites such as Brock, Misty, Gary, Team Rocket and some of Ash’s most famous Pokémon.

“Ash Ketchum’s determination and perseverance to achieve his goal of becoming the world’s top Pokémon Trainer over the course of 25 seasons represents the very best of what it means to be a Trainer,” the vice president of the Pokémon Company International said, adding that the moment will be celebrated in the 11 “adventure-defining episodes”.

Following the special episodes, the next season of “Pokémon” will introduce two new protagonists named Liko and Roy, who will be accompanied by starter Pokémon Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly from the recent video games “Pokémon Scarlet” and “Violet.”
