A Former Israeli Prime Minister Admitted That Israel Built The Tunnels And The Anchor Was Shocked

Former Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak has confirmed in an interview on CNN that Israel built the tunnels under Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza, leaving the anchor in shock.

Barak, who served as Israel’s prime minister from 1999 to 2001, was interviewed by CNN’s Christiane Amanpour on Tuesday Nov. 21.

When asked if he felt that the Israeli government had proven its claim that Hamas had dug tunnels under Al-Shifa, Gaza’s biggest hospital, Barak said that it was known that the tunnels existed because they were originally “built by Israeli constructors”.

He claimed that the tunnels were being used by Hamas as a command post but added that he doesn’t know “to what extent it is ‘major'”.

The Israeli army has used its claim that Hamas has built a system of tunnels underneath Al-Shifa and is using it as a “major command center” to justify its repeated attacks on the hospital, which have killed and displaced thousands of medical staff, patients and civilians sheltering inside.

So far, it has yet to provide concrete evidence to back up its claims.

A surprised Amanpour then asked, “When you said it was built by Israeli engineers did you misspeak?”

Barak replied that he did not misspeak and that Israel had helped to build the bunkers decades ago to “enable more space for the operation of the hospital.”

“Okay, that’s thrown me a bit,” Amanpour replied.

The interview has gone massively viral online, with people calling out the fact that Israel has been claiming that Hamas built the tunnels and using it as an excuse to bomb the hospital to “find” them, when Israel built the tunnels itself and knew about their existence the whole time.

Many also pointed out that this is not new information as Palestinians have known and been sharing it for weeks, but Western media refused to pay attention.

“Ok but Palestinians have been saying this for weeks now. This is only a surprise if you, like most western media, haven’t been listening to Palestinians because you consider them unreliable narrators of their own lives,” a user wrote on X.

“Ehud Barak tells Christiane Amanpour it was Israel that built a major bunker under al-Shifa hospital back in the 1980s. This fact’s been all over social media for weeks, but Amanpour is stunned. Establishment journalists really do live in their own bubble of fake news,” another person wrote.
