After 251 Weeks, Greta Thunberg Has Taken Part In Her Last “School Climate Strike”

After 251 weeks, Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg has taken part in her last “school” climate strike.

In August 2018, Thunberg, who was 15 at the time, started striking outside Sweden’s parliament to protest climate inaction.

What started as a small protest every Friday has since become an international movement known as Fridays for Future.

Young people all around the world have skipped school on Fridays to demand climate action, including to take part in several global demonstrations that have drawn millions of students worldwide.

On Friday June 9, Thunberg, who is now 20, announced she had graduated from school and will therefore no longer be able to “school strike” for climate.

It’s not clear if Thunberg will be enrolling in university, but she has promised to continue to protest on Fridays, saying the fight has just begun.
