A Man Threw Yogurt On Two Iranian Women For Not Covering Their Hair. Then The Women Got Arrested

The women were then arrested for not complying with Iran's compulsory hijab law.

Two women in Iran have been attacked by a man who threw a tub of yogurt on them for allegedly not covering their hair properly.

Surveillance footage of the incident on Thursday March 30 showed a man approaching the two women in a shop and speaking to them, before grabbing a tub of yogurt and throwing it on the women.

A male staff member is then seen pushing the man out of the store in the northeastern city of Shandiz.

The women were then arrested for not complying with Iran’s compulsory hijab law, Iranian authorities said, according to the BBC.

The man was also arrested for disturbing the public order, authorities said, adding that it had issued “necessary notices” to the shop owner to “ensure compliance with the law,” according to the BBC.

The incident comes more than six months after the death of 22-year-old woman Mahsa Amini after she was detained by “morality” police for allegedly breaking the compulsory hijab law.

Amini’s death sparked mass protests and a violent crackdown from police, with at least 488 people dead and tens of thousands more injured and arrested as of Jan. 23, 2023, according to Iran Human Rights.
