Floods and landslides caused by a tropic storm have killed at least 167 people in the Philippines.
110 people remained missing on Wednesday April 13, three days after tropical storm Megi hit the country.

Authorities say more than 1.9 million people have been affected, with more than 200,000 displaced.

About 80 percent of houses were washed out to sea in one village, the BBC reported.

Photos shared on social media by fire officials showed rescuers digging for survivors after a landslide and wading through homes that had been partially submerged, CNN reported.

Officials say the death toll is likely to climb as aid workers continue their search and rescue operations in affected villages.

Megi is the first storm to hit the Philippines this year. The country experiences around 20 storms each year.
